★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 2,558 reviews · 11 hours (approx.) · from $29Our pick

Travel from Cancun to Chichen Itza with a certified guide such as Ricardo, Diego, or Abel, then enjoy a Mayan cooking demonstration and buffet lunch in Kaua. Swim and zip line at Cenote Noolha, or Cenote Ikkil from Riviera Maya, before a brief Valladolid stop. Expect an early start, a large group, and a long day.

“It was a very lengthy excursion but so worth it! Make sure you are ready to take on a full day of activities. Our guide was very passionate about the Mayan culture and ruins which made the tour more interesting. We loved every single thing on the itinerary, from Chichen Itza, Mayan village, Valladolid, and the cenote! The cenote being the last thing on the itinerary was perfect because we were able to cool down after a whole day of exploring. The water was cold and refreshing and we got to zipline in the cenote too! The lunch buffet was also decent.”

“I mostly enjoyed this experience and am glad that we decided last minute to take a tour just because the hassle of renting a car and driving didn't seem worth it. Pickup and dropoff were extremely easy, and the bus was nice with A/C, a bathroom, and USB ports. Our English speaking guide was really knowledgeable and informative, and I thought he did a good job showing us around Chichen Itza. I also liked that they gave a lot of history and background information during the bus ride which helped the driving time pass quicker. We saw a lot of the ruins and were allowed a good 15 minutes to…”

A bilingual guide leads the day, with CJ, Tito, Toro, Jose, Pedro, and others praised for their care and humor. Pickup is offered from Playa del Carmen, but Tulum visitors must use a meeting point.

“Great adventure and fun, really glad we did it. Negative reviews give some useful practical suggestions, but some must be down to expectations. Keep an open mind and go for it! Raphael was a great guide and kept it moving along. Not everyone in a group responds in the same way but he was very patient. Bear in mind this is in the middle of the forest/jungle - paths are rocky and rooty, steps to platforms can be uneven but take your time. The chain came off one ATV but they got it sorted quickly. No other issues.”
